Instructor Training

CAREER CHANGE IN 2021
Become a qualified
Approved Driving Instructor

Have you been made redundant or lost your job?
Would you like to re-train for a new career?

17 PLUS will design a course for you to train to become an instructor (ADI) working around your existing commitments and will deliver the course locally to yourself. This will be the most flexible way for you as there will be no need to travel.

The training you will receive will “be second to none”.

Our Trainer, STEVE SMITH, is a professional highest grade instructor and has a very high pass rate. His teaching style is tailored to suit the individual and will be delivered in a caring, compassionate and patient way. He will use all the up-to-date modern techniques to get you through.

Steve is registered on the OFFICIAL REGISTER OF DRIVING INSTRUCTOR TRAINERS (ORDIT).

This register is operated by the DVSA, who make sure that the Trainers are of good quality and check regularly to ensure they maintain a high standard of instruction.

ARE YOU THE PERSON THAT HAS ALL THE ABILITIES TO TEACH ANYONE TO DRIVE?

The new career of becoming a driving instructor is a decision that must not be taken lightly. It involves a rigorous training programme and it will not happen overnight.

At 17 PLUS we believe that determination, hard work and of course the best training, will achieve the desired result.

The potential instructor should have a number of qualities, these are:-

  • Patience – to cope with all situations without getting ruffled or irate in adverse circumstances.
  • Understanding – the ability to understand all people at all levels from 17 years to 80 years.
  • Flexibility – to adapt tuition to suit individual people and their needs.
  • Communication Skills – to put over your tuition plan in the best possible way.
  • Enthusiasm & Determination – to be enthusiastic about safe defensive driving and the determination to teach your pupil to drive and pass the driving test first time.
  • Confidence & Attitude – you must have enough confidence to show that you are efficient and professional at all times.

Remember! Sloppy Attitude = Sloppy Instructor.

  • Self Discipline – being on time and also to give value for money.
  • Business Sense – self employment means that a degree of business aptitude is needed to run your diary of work, records of incoming and outgoing cash, income tax, etc.
  • Smart Appearance – always turning out smart, clean and tidy for your days work.  First impressions count!
  • You & Your Car – your car is the first thing that your pupil sees on your arrival.  It is your office, your tool of the trade, your advert.  Keeping it clean and tidy at all times.

The DVSA sets all the exams including the “L” test.

The Instructor exam consists of 3 parts.
