17 Plus History
The driving school ‘17 PLUS DRIVING TUITION’ was started up in June 1984 by Martin Wyrill and Malcolm French; who initially worked as sole traders. The business was operated quite successfully for two years this way and together using Martin’s retail management experience and Malcolm’s sales management experience they went about building a multiple car driving school.
Since Office Manager – Lesley Heal – came on board in the late nineties, the business has gone from strength to strength. This has now been built up into a THIRTY FIVE car driving school that has become the largest independent driving school in Norfolk.
In July 2006, 17 PLUS bought Cromer Driving Centre from Michael Davies – a local businessman, who over 43 years, formed a relationship with the local community, building a reputation in the Cromer area. This purchase was designed to strengthen and service the North Norfolk part of the business.
Cromer Driving Centre caters for all ages – from the young and eager types who can’t wait to get behind the wheel on their 17th birthday – to the more mature person who may have left learning to drive to later in life before enjoying the freedom which driving will undoubtedly give. We aim to give you the learning experience in a friendly and enjoyable environment.
More recently, the Company started ALL WOMAN at 17 PLUS to cater for the female clientele in the area. This idea was borne from the demand of customers wanting to be taught by a female instructor – simply by feeling more at ease in the company of another female can take away certain stresses.
With over 25 years in the industry we can offer you fully qualified and DSA approved instructors who have been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked for your safety. They are governed by the 17 PLUS Code of Practice so you know that you will receive professionally structured tuition.
